Zanu PF heavyweights in Matabeleland are reportedly fighting for a timber harvesting tender in Tsholotsho. The Tsholotsho Rural District Council recently invited tenders for timber harvesting.
Insiders revealed to reporters that Zanu PF heavyweights, John Nkomo and Obert Mpofu, have taken their personal dislike to the business arena.
"The two sent in tenders to harvest timber and already there is a big war. Mpofu has already bought a lot of equipment so that he gets an upper hand over Nkomo, who just applied for the tender," a source said.
The two politicians want to elbow out a Bulawayo company, Durawood, which has been harvesting timber in the area in recent years.
Tsholotsho, situated in Matabeleland North, is rich in timber - which stretches to Lupane and Nkayi. (Vop)
